Privacy

Lumen is the client portal and site audit system of Mithril Marketing Services. This page says what it stores, where that comes from and how long it is kept.

Your account

Accounts are created by Mithril, by invitation. Lumen stores your name, your email address, the client you belong to and when you last signed in.

If you choose a password, Lumen stores only a salted scrypt hash of it. If you sign in with Google, Lumen receives your Google account's ID, name and email address, and nothing else from your Google account.

Signing in sets one cookie, which keeps you signed in for up to 30 days of inactivity. Lumen sets no other cookies and runs no analytics or advertising scripts.

Your Google data

Mithril connects the Google account it already uses to manage its clients' properties, and assigns each client its Search Console property, Analytics property and Business Profile location. Clients do not connect their own Google accounts.

Lumen reads those properties with read-only requests, except that Google's Business Profile APIs require the business.manage permission even to read; Lumen never changes a listing. What it reads is summarized for the client's own pages, kept for up to two days so pages load quickly, and shown only to that client's people and to Mithril staff.

Lumen's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. It is not sold, not used for advertising and not shared with anyone outside Mithril.

Call tracking

For clients whose calls are tracked with CallRail or CallTrackingMetrics, Lumen reads the tracked calls, with a key created in the client's own CallRail account or through Mithril's CallTrackingMetrics account, and counts them for the client's Calls page: how many, when, from which source and city, how long, and whether they were answered. Callers' names and phone numbers are not stored or shown in Lumen; they stay with the provider. The counts are kept for up to two days.

Page speed

Lumen tests each client's home page, and any pages Mithril chooses, with Google's PageSpeed Insights once a day, on mobile and desktop, and keeps about a year of results as the client's speed history. The test loads the public page from Google's servers; nothing about the client's visitors is sent to Google by Lumen.

Reports, updates and tasks

Reports Mithril uploads, updates Mithril posts and the tasks between Mithril and a client are stored on Mithril's server and shown only to that client's people and to Mithril staff, until Mithril removes them. When Mithril chooses to announce a new report or update, the client's people who have signed in receive an email saying so, sent through Resend.

Site audits and page scans

A site audit crawls a public website from Mithril's server and stores each page's address, title, headings and links, and what the checks found. A page scan opens one public page in a browser on Mithril's server and stores what the checks found. Client audits are kept as the client's history until Mithril removes them.

Lumen's crawler

A site audit identifies itself with this user agent:

Lumen-SiteAudit/1.0 (+https://lumen.mithrilmarketingservices.com/privacy#crawler)

It follows robots.txt by default and fetches at most 300 pages in one audit. To keep Lumen off your site, add this to robots.txt:

User-agent: Lumen-SiteAudit
Disallow: /

Email

Invitations, password resets, and the updates and reports Mithril chooses to announce are sent through Resend, which receives the recipient's address and the message. A message sent from the portal's Ask Mithril page is emailed to Mithril's support inbox with your address as the reply-to, and is not stored in Lumen.

No AI model

Lumen does not send page content or Google data to an AI model. Its findings and recommendations are produced by fixed rules.
